Review the request in context
Check the title, channel, requesting child, and available details. Preview the actual content when needed rather than deciding solely from a thumbnail. Ask what the child wanted from the video if that would help your judgment. The queue also offers creator-level actions, so take care not to choose a broad channel rule when you only intend to decline the current item. A narrow decision can leave room to consider another video from the same interest later.
Confirm the denial
Use Deny and read the confirmation before submitting. Wait for the portal’s success state or error. If the queue fails to update, refresh and check the current request status rather than assuming the action completed because the button was pressed. Avoid sending multiple contradictory actions while the first is still saving. Keep the child’s actual request in focus, especially when several similar videos appear in the queue at once.
Explain what the answer covers
Tell the child whether the decision concerns this video, the timing of the session, or a wider content boundary. A sentence such as “This one does not fit our plan, but we can look for another tutorial” gives a practical next step without promising an alternative you have not reviewed. If the concern applies to the whole creator, review the separate channel decision deliberately. PARE can record the denial, but the parent still supplies the reason and the next conversation.
